18 Months Jail and SR 120,000 fine on Foodstuff expiry date fraud
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment published a ruling of the Criminal court in Hail, which imposes sanctions on an establishment specialized in food Industry engaged in wholesale and retail foodstuff.
The Ministry explains the firm was cheating and misleading by changing manufacture and expiry date of the expired food products and selling which may cause serious health problem for consumers.
The Ministry confirms the owner and worker involved and confessed the fraud.
The Court issued the sentence of one year and six months prison term for the worker in charge of the factory. Also a fine of 120,000 Riyals.
